5 Reasons why Every Researcher Need to Use ZetaView for Their Exosome Research

ZetaView Nanoparticle Tracking Analyser (NTA)  has steadily become a staple in every exosomes-focused laboratory.

The discovery of Extracellular vesicles (EVs) links to cancer and other diseases has raised EVs popularity in the scientific world. Recently, more than 1,000 scientists from around the world attended The International Society of Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) 2018 annual meeting in Barcelona to share their research.

Despite the promising applications of EVs, especially exosomes, characterization still remains the biggest challenge in this topic. But, Good news! ZetaView®, the newest NTA  innovation by Particle Metrix has greatly decreased the difficulty of this problem. It is also proven to be popular with Cambridge University community.

What´s so special about ZetaView? Solmeglas has summarized the five reasons why every exosomes researcher needs ZetaView in their lab!

1.      User-friendly

A CellGS scientist uses the Particle Metrix ZetaView® for the study of exosomes

As a busy scientist, complicated equipment is the last thing you want to have in your laboratory. Fortunately, ZetaView is well known as being user-friendly! This is because of the Auto-alignment and auto-focussing capabilities of ZetaView.

This opinion was supported by Michael Jones, CEO of CellGS in the UK. Apart from being user-friendly, Michael also added that high sample throughput of ZetaView is especially valuable for a commercial laboratory.

2.      Accurate Quantification of Nanoparticles

ZetaView provides basic information such as size and zeta potential of the nanoparticles. Besides that basic information, this NTA  is also able to accurately quantify the exact number of nanoparticles in the solution.

The video frame assessment feature will allow you to count the number of exosomes in your sample, like what the researchers from the University Hospital of Duisburg-Essen and University Hospital of Erlangen have achieved!

3.      Complete Sample Recovery

Exosomes purification and isolation techniques are getting better and better. Unfortunately, depending on the techniques, the yield can be very low. As a result, only a very little volume can be sacrificed for measurements. Therefore, high sample recovery after the analysis is very important.

The flow-through cell channel of ZetaView®

ZetaView not only requires a minimum volume of sample (it only needs 600µl!) but also it allows easy recovery. This is because ZetaView features a flow-through cell channel system with the inlet and outlet ports located on opposite sides. Samples can be easily injected through the inlet port. After the measurement, the sample will be re-collected into a tube on the outlet port. Thus, complete sample recovery can be achieved.

4.      Scanning Nanoparticles at Eleven Positions.

Example of ZetaView® scanning system

Rather than just measure the nanoparticle at one point, ZetaView does the analysis at eleven different positions. This gives a better representation of the data than a single point measurement. Hence, the result is also more accurate from the normal NTA. Moreover, all of the eleven measurements can be done after only 90 seconds!

5.      The New Twin Laser Technology

ZetaView® NTA Twin Laser Technology

ZetaView is the first NTA to be equipped with twin laser technology. This technology allows simultaneous analysis with two different wavelengths. Normally, only one wavelength can be used at a time. Thus, experiment with the other wavelengths has to be done in sequence.

With The TWIN-laser NTA, 2 biomarkers in the same sample can be analyzed at the same time, saving time and minimize sample consumption.
